xista Talks
The xista innovation talk series is a platform that invites seasoned experts from industry, to provide insights on the translation of academic inventions into successful companies. Recordings of previous talks can be found on ISTA’s xista Talk Youtube playlist.
Science Industry Talk
The annual Science Industry Talk providess a forum to discuss the delivery of innovative science and science-based business ideas through spin-offs, industry-academia collaboration – or both. Further, it highlights the latest developments from within ISTA’s innovation ecosystem.
We offer training programs for science entrepreneurs at ISTA and beyond
XBIO
XBIO is a programme on the translation of research projects into successful biomedical enterprises. The course was initiated by xista innovation, together with several other academic institutions. Participants are learning and deepening their understanding of the various functional requirements to establish and run a biomedical company, as well as network with potential mentors and co-founders.
xista eLab
The xista entrepreneurship lab aims to provide the foundations for entrepreneurial activities among ISTA’s community. All areas relevant for establishing and running a tech company are addressed, ranging from the protection of a research result, idea or invention, over the creation of a business plan, sales and marketing strategy, to financial and regulatory topics. eLab is offered once a year and open to all of ISTA’s scientific and administrative staff.
How We Work With Industry
We promote all forms of cooperation between ISTA and industry which safeguard the freedom and publication rights of ISTA scientists. We would like to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing opportunities for companies and scientists to work closely together on collaborative research projects or to use the state of the art infrastructure on campus.

We run a fellowship program to kick-start spin off projects and support our teams in acquiring grants and venture capital
xista Fellowships
xista Fellowships are intended to facilitate the translation of promising IP and results from ISTA research groups by preparing the ground for a potential startup company. During the course of a 12-18 month Fellowship, Fellows are guided closely by the xista innovation group to develop a business strategy, while in parallel conducting key validation experiments.
